Summertime is usually when many business owners take a break to have a holiday with their family after a busy first half of the year, but this year is different.

After several months following lockdown restrictions at the start of the year, you might feel you can’t afford to take spend time away from your business now as you need to catch up, or you may be worried about the risk of contracting coronavirus.
Most of the business owners I know are workaholics, and are totally dedicated to their businesses and their customers, so may feel guilty about taking a well-earned break.

According to a study in The Guardian, 60% of business owners didn’t manage to take a holiday in the previous 12 months, and of those who did, 75% still worked every day. See:

It’s not surprising then that many small business owners say they have been experiencing poor mental health since the pandemic began.

According to a new study by Mental Health UK, 80% of small business owners have reported having symptoms of poor mental health (86% of women business owners and 77% of male business owners), yet only 44% have never accessed mental health support, see: https://mentalhealth-uk.org/blog/four-in-five-small-business-owners-tell-us-theyre-experiencing-poor-mental-health/

Don’t be afraid to get help for yourself if you need it. If famous people like Prince Harry and gymnast Simone Biles can seek help, it shows there is nothing to be ashamed of.
